Mr.S.S.Jhunjhunwala promoted Reliance Cellulose Products Limited (RCPL), incorporated in 1978, for the manufacture of Chemical derivative of Cellulose and allied products like Sodium Carboxy Methyl Cellulose (CMC), Monochloro Acetic Acid (MCA), Cellulose Powder (CP), Micro Crystalline Cellulose Powder (MCCP) and Bleached Cotton Linters (BCL). The Company commenced commercial production in 1980.

Today, Reliance having integrated facilities is the leading producer of CMC/CP/MCCP and BCL and other products in the Country. The Company is embarking upon a Modernization cum. Diversification scheme to be implemented first phase in 2004 and the remaining in 2005.
